New Jersey Plastic Surgeon Helps Determine Top Cosmetic Surgery Procedures of 2008

Breast augmentation, liposuction and eyelid surgery were ranked the top 3 cosmetic surgery procedures in 2008 according to a recent survey conducted by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. According to the results of the study, breast augmentation, liposuction and eyelid surgery ranked as the top 3 plastic surgery procedures performed last year, with over 10 million surgical and nonsurgical procedures preformed across the country for 2008. "The ASAPS reported that from 2007-2008, there has been a 12 percent decrease in cosmetic surgery procedures," explains Dr. Parker. "Our practice has been bucking the trend with a continuous 5 percent increase in procedures from year-to-year. That's a real positive note with the current economic downturn we are currently experiencing." Dr. Parker was among an elite group of plastic surgeons in the United States called upon to release their personal plastic surgery statistics to complete the study. This is the 12th such survey produced by the ASAPS, which has been the world’s leading organization for cosmetic surgery research and education since its founding in 1967. The study also determined that women had 92 percent of all cosmetic procedures last year totaling 9.3 million with men undergoing 800,000 procedures at 8 percent.
